Norwich head coach Philippe Clement was proud of the way his injury-hit side came from behind to beat Sheffield United 2-1 – and make is eight wins in 10 games in the Championship.
They produced an excellent fightback in the final quarter to take all three points after trailing at half-time to a well-taken 21st-minute strike from Jairo Riedewald.
The Blades rarely threatened after that and the hosts made them pay after 68 minutes when Jack Stacey nodded home Jacob Wright’s corner.
Clement’s side continued to press and it was no big surprise when they grabbed what proved to be the winner in the 84th minute.
Paris Maghoma played in fellow substitute Amankwah Forson on the right and the man who had only been on the pitch for three minutes produced a sublime finish into the top corner to settle it.
“We have 14 or 15 players out – I don’t count now – and for the players to get that result, in the manner they did, shows how involved all our squad are in what we are achieving,” said Clement.
“We were up against a side in good form, with a big squad to choose from and came away with a very important win.
“We were a bit sloppy early on, we weren’t playing our normal football and at half-time it was a case of telling the players to calm down and remind them what they were doing well and telling them what they should be doing better.
“We were unlucky not to score in the latter stages of the first half and in the second half we showed a lot of quality, created a lot of chances and scored two good goals.
“It’s another example of the progress we are making.”
Blades boss Chris Wilder cut a frustrated figure afterwards.
“It feels there’s something missing at the moment that we can’t put a finger on – and we need to find answers to that quickly,” he said.
“It’s not been good enough tonight and we have been punished by a good side who are in a false position in the table.
“The two goals we conceded were ridiculously poor ones but you could see it coming. In fairness to Norwich they were better than us in the second half and their subs impacted the game much more than ours did.
“We were in a good place after scoring our goal and I think we created more good chances than they did.
“But after going ahead we just didn’t look after the ball well enough. We kept turning it over and that helped Norwich get back into it.”
