Leaders Bromley drop more points with draw against Oldham

Bromley missed the chance to stretch their lead at the top of League Two to seven points as they had to settle for a share of the spoils in a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Oldham.

A fourth draw in five league games leaves second-placed Cambridge five points behind with a game in hand.

A first half low on quality saw little by way of incident until the stroke of half-time when Oldham’s Jack Stevens drew a smart save from Grant Smith at his near post before Kane Drummond’s effort from distance also tested the Bromley goalkeeper.

It was Drummond again three minutes after the interval who came closest to giving Oldham the lead as his deflected strike went inches past Smith’s right-hand post.

Goalmouth scrambles at either end threatened to break the deadlock late on but it was Bromley defender Jesse Debrah who had the best opportunity of the game, heading over the crossbar in added time when it seemed easier to hit the target.
