Ollie Banks’ volley in the ninth minute of stoppage time kept York top of the Enterprise National League as they beat 10-man Morecambe 1-0.
The struggling Shrimps had kept York under pressure in the first half with Jack Nolan hitting a post before Chris Popov sent the rebound over, with that coming after a decent chance for Miguel Azeez.
But York were much improved after the break, aided by a 54th-minute red card for Paul Lewis, although Alex Hunt saw his penalty saved by Jamal Blackman.
The visitors kept piling forward and finally got their reward at the death when Banks struck to break Morecambe hearts.
