ST Munchin’s College’s delayed Munster Schools Senior Cup second round tie with Bandon Grammar School takes place this Friday when a place in the quarter-finals will be at stake.
The second round game will now take place at UL’s 4G rugby pitch at 2.30pm, after the fixture was moved from Bandon RFC due to an unplayable pitch.
The game will be preceded by the refixed Junior Cup second round tie between Castletroy College and Bandon Grammar School at 1pm.
The winners of Friday’s Junior and Senior Cup games will advance to the quarter-finals of the competitions.
St Munchin’s will be looking to bounce back from their narrow first round defeat to local rivals Ardscoil Ris, while their West Cork opponents, Bandon lost their opening fixture to Rockwell College.
It is now 10 years since St Munchin’s College won the Munster Schools Senior Cup. The Corbally side boast plenty of experience with 13 survivors from their 2015 squad, including 12 players who featured in the game against Rockwell.
Castletroy College lost their opening Junior Cup fixture to Glenstal Abbey.
The quarter-final draw for both the Munster Schools Senior and Junior Cup will be made at UL following Friday’s games. Senior Cup quarter-finals take place next week.
