Barnsley head coach Conor Hourihane was full of praise for his side and the goals they scored after coming from behind to beat Peterborough 2-1 at Oakwell.
Reyes Cleary netted the winner in the second half to earn the Tykes a first league victory in four games after Luca Connell had cancelled out Kyrell Lisbie’s opener for Posh.
Hourihane said: “They were really, really good goals.
“I think Luca’s goal was a little bit more individual while Reyes’ was more of an attacking team goal.
“But it was two really good finishes from two really good players.
“I’m obviously pleased overall to win.”
Peterborough took the lead in the 21st minute after some fantastic work by Declan Frith, who cut inside and shot from the edge of the area, with Owen Goodman only able to push the ball straight out to Lisbie who fired home from close range.
Harry Leonard came close to doubling Posh’s lead on the half-hour mark after some good work by Lisbie but he couldn’t connect cleanly in front of goal.
Connell equalised for the hosts on 34 minutes after cutting inside and curling an inch-perfect effort past Alex Bass in the Peterborough goal.
Barnsley scored the winner on 53 minutes thanks to a quick throw-in by Scott Banks, who found Corey O’Keeffe inside the box and his cross somehow made its way to Cleary and he added to his already impressive tally of goals and assists this season.
The Reds moved up to 13th in the League One table, eight points behind sixth-placed Huddersfield with four games in hand.
Full-back Georgie Gent returned to the starting XI for the first time this year and Hourihane said: “I was delighted for him.
“We’ve had to be really careful with Georgie, he’s had a really difficult Achilles injury.
“He’s been knocking on the door over the last couple of games and I thought this was the perfect game for him and he was great.”
Peterborough manager Luke Williams was disappointed with the result but praised his team’s performance.
The result leaves Posh in 11th, five points outside the top six.
Williams said: “I’m really happy with the performance but I’m gutted with the result.
“We had so many openings we didn’t capitalise on.
“I think we’re a bit unfortunate for the equaliser because I think there’s a clear foul and that’s a huge problem when David McGoldrick is then completely in space on his own.
“It’s been quite a tough schedule and I thought it showed a little bit in the second half.
“But then I think there’s still a lot of attacking endeavour and the willingness to try and make openings and get into the box.
“I can’t complain with that.”
