Rochdale climbed to the top of the National League after drawing 1-1 with Scunthorpe at the Crown Oil Arena.
Scunthorpe opened the scoring in the 17th minute when red-hot Callum Roberts fired in from range, his 15th league goal of the season and 10th in nine games.
Dale were awarded a penalty seven minutes later but, in a bizarre incident, Emmanuel Dieseruvwe appeared to hesitate as he approached the ball before walking past it, resulting in referee Darren Drysdale giving Scunthorpe a free-kick without the spot-kick ever being taken.
Rochdale hit back in the 32nd minute, with Ryan East slotting in to level things up.
The draw extended Dale’s unbeaten run to nine matches and moved them one point above promotion rivals York, with a game in hand.
