A PEDESTRIAN, aged in his 60s, was killed in a road traffic collision close to the Limerick-Tipperary border on Thursday afternoon.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the fatal incident that occurred on the L8109 road at Ardloman, near the Glen of Aherlow in County Tipperary.

A garda spokesperson said the alarm was raised after a pedestrian was struck by a lorry at approximately 2.35pm on Thursday. 

“The pedestrian a male, aged in his 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. There have been no other injuries reported.

“The scene has been technically examined. The Health and Safety Authority and the coroner have been notified,” said a garda spokesperson.

Investigations are ongoing.
