Graham Alexander hopes the way Bradford played in the 2-0 win over Peterborough is a blueprint for the rest of their season.
Bobby Pointon and Kayden Jackson scored for the fifth-placed home side, who registered 29 efforts at goal at University of Bradford Stadium.
Boss Alexander said: “You see the performance in training when there’s nothing to lose, because there’s no points on the board, there’s no fans there and stuff like that, and lads just go for it.
“It’s taking that mentality into games when there’s pressure on and performing on there and how difficult that can be.
“I thought they just took everything they do in training into the game from minute one to 90.
“Previously, we’d been on a little bit of a difficult run and everyone spoke about it, including us, but when we start like that, it just imprints on the opponent that we’re here to compete.”
Pointon scored after five minutes with a close-range finish after Peterborough goalkeeper Alex Bass punched away Tyreik Wright’s flighted cross.
Bradford dominated throughout but had to wait until five minutes into the second half to double their lead. Jackson, locally born like Pointon, headed home Josh Neufville’s cross.
It was his first goal since signing from Derby during the January transfer window.
Alexander added: “I thought he was running and getting in behind. His link-up play was good, and his movement in the box was excellent.
“You saw a few of the other chances where he’s linked up the play or made a run and created a space for other people.”
Peterborough saw experienced centre-back Tom Lees go off injured during the warm-up before the game. Manager Luke Williams admitted that was a huge blow.
“For us to even get a point today, we probably needed Tom Lees more than any other individual player,” he said.
“He tried to lift off on a hop as the first action of the warm-up and he felt a pop in the calf muscle. He won’t be able to play for the foreseeable.
“George Nevett came in and he is a good player, but Tom Lees is at a different level at the moment. He has the experience and quality, he’s a calm influence on the players around him and his defensive instinct is incredible.
“It was incredibly difficult. We played a very good side and they were streets ahead of us.
“We were no match for them, that was the reality.”
Peterborough had a penalty shout turned down when Cian Hayes went down under Aden Baldwin’s challenge.
Williams added: “If we’d have got anything, we’d have considered ourselves extremely fortunate. We’d have taken it, of course, but the reality is that we were second best by miles and completely outclassed.”
