Norwich head coach Philippe Clement was pleased to see his side keep their nerve to beat West Brom 3-1 in the fourth round of the FA Cup and make it seven wins in eight games in all competitions.
Having gone ahead in the 31st minute when Paris Maghoma headed home on his full debut, the Canaries were pegged back midway through the second period by a well-taken finish from Josh Maja.
But a low drive from substitute Ben Chrisene restored their lead after 82 minutes before a close-range header from Mo Toure added the icing on the cake in stoppage time, the Australia striker’s fifth goal in three games since his January move to Carrow Road.
“It doesn’t matter what the competition is, we want to win every game – we are trying to build a winning culture at this club,” he said.
“I thought it was a good first half from us, we got our goal and it should have been two or three.
“In the second half we were less dominant, with a lot of our starting line-up not having played 90 minutes for a few months, and they got their goal.
“A few months ago the players might have got a bit nervous – and there would certainly have been anxiety in the stands – but we made some changes and kept going to get the win.”
West Brom coach Eric Ramsay is still looking for his first win after seven games in charge but feels his side are showing signs of progress.
“I am obviously disappointed with the result after the way we got ourselves back into the game but I feel this group is moving forward,” he said.
“We gave ourselves something positive to build on after the league games against Stoke and Birmingham (both goalless draws) and there are some good things to come out of this game, even though we lost.
“I obviously had to think of the long-term picture coming into this so a number of young players got a chance and others got important minutes in their legs.”
