Sam Dalby’s late header stopped Lincoln going nine points clear of Bolton in the promotion race after he secured the visitors a late point in a 1-1 draw at Sincil Bank.
Michael Skubala’s Imps looked destined to make it five straight wins, but they had to settle for a 14th league game without defeat after being held to a draw.
In-form Jack Moylan smashed a strike onto the crossbar in the first five minutes.
The Irishman was then thwarted by Trotters stopper Jack Bonham as he went close once more.
But Moylan was not to be denied a third time as he guided his fifth goal in as many games into the bottom corner in the 25th minute.
After the break, Adam Reach fired a volley over before Moylan’s snapshot went wide.
Bonham again kept out the dangerous Moylan, with Freddie Draper hitting the rebound over.
Rob Street rattled a post for the hosts, who were eventually made to rue their missed chances.
Dalby headed home Ethan Erhahon’s pin-point cross in the final 10 minutes.
Bonham produced a good late save to ensure a share of the spoils as he kept out Reeco Hackett in stoppage time.
