Oisin Smyth’s stoppage-time penalty earns point for Partick Thistle

Oisin Smyth converted a penalty in the sixth minute of added time as second-placed Partick Thistle snatched a dramatic 2-2 draw with William Hill Championship leaders St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

Saints were poised to move five points clear at the top after Alfredo Agyeman’s first goal for the club and Josh McPake’s 14th league goal of the season overturned Smyth’s first-half opener.

But on-loan St Mirren midfielder Smyth grabbed a big goal in the battle for the promotion at the death, coolly converting his second of the evening from the spot after Cheick Diabate bundled over Alex Samuel in the box.

St Johnstone remain just two points clear following the late twist but have a game in hand on the Jags.
