League Two leaders Bromley held in goalless stalemate at Chesterfield

Bromley’s seven-match winning run came to an end as the League Two leaders had to settle for a point from a goalless draw at Chesterfield amid late drama.

After weathering some pressure, the visitors had a great chance to win it a minute from time when Nicke Kabamba’s penalty was saved.

Mitch Pinnock threatened to give Bromley a first-half lead with a well-struck drive which was palmed away by Zach Hemming.

Lee Bonis came close with Chesterfield’s one real chance in the first half after getting on the end of an Adam Lewis cross before putting the ball wide.

Bromley’s Ben Krauhaus had an effort blocked soon after the restart.

The hosts then enjoyed a good spell with Sam Curtis seeing a shot saved and James Berry firing wide.

Chesterfield continued to pose the greater threat with substitute Freddie Ladapo clipping the outside of a post after seeing his initial effort saved.

Tom Pearce’s dangerous cross then had to be tipped over the crossbar by Bromley goalkeeper Grant Smith.

Taking an 89th-penalty awarded for handball, Kabamba saw his effort saved by Hemming down to his left.
