Jake Beesley’s fifth goal of the season secured Burton a 1-0 win over Blackpool at the Pirelli Stadium.
The former Tangerines striker helped push the Brewers into the top half of the table while inflicting a first league defeat on new Blackpool boss Ian Evatt.
In tricky conditions in East Staffordshire, it was CJ Hamilton, on his 200th Blackpool appearance, who had the first chance.
Bursting through the middle, he bore down on goal only to be denied by a superb challenge from Kegs Chauke tracking back with him.
Chances were at a premium and Blackpool almost gifted Albion the opener when their propensity for playing out from the back almost cost them dear, Michael Ihiekwe, in trying to pass back to his goalkeeper, putting the ball inches wide of the post.
Hamilton again went close, sending a header wide from Jordan Brown’s cross, as they tried to hit Burton on the counter.
An even second half was brought to life when Albion went in front after 65 minutes. After attacking down the right, Kyran Lofthouse delivered a perfect cross for Beesley to head into the bottom corner.
Blackpool pushed for an equaliser late on and Albion were grateful to goalkeeper Brad Collins for two outstanding saves in added time from Tom Bloxham and Zac Ashworth to secure the win.
