Amario Cozier-Duberry stars but Steven Schumacher says Bolton not a one-man team

Amario Cozier-Duberry terrorised another League One defence but Bolton boss Steven Schumacher insisted they are not a one-man team.

Cozier-Duberry netted his sixth and seventh goals of the season and claimed assists for Xavier Simons’ first for the club and Kyle Dempsey’s first of the campaign.

This latest win lifted Wanderers up to third and dumped Vale to second bottom as manager Darren Moore came under fire from angry away fans at the final whistle.

Schumacher, though, was all smiles after his team’s promotion push gained greater momentum.

“It is important everyone understands Amario is contributing with goals and assists,” he said of the Brighton loanee. “But the whole team is working hard to get him the ball and to keep the opposition away from our goal. We need that to continue.

“He has been a good character from the minute he walked through the door and you can’t help but fall in love with him with the way he is.

“He trains like he plays. He produces moments of magic every day, gets kicked on the floor every day but gets up and doesn’t care.”

Vale were unfortunate not to be at least one goal up before Cozier-Duberry rifled home after 31 minutes. Teddy Sharman-Lowe twice saved headers from Connor Hall to keep the home side level.

Simons took the game further away from Vale after 36 minutes before Cozier-Duberry and Dempsey netted in the second half.

“It was a tough start,” admitted Schumacher. “Full credit to Port Vale who were very good for 25 minutes.

“But once we got the first goal we settled down and in the second half we controlled it.”

Vale supporters voiced frustration at their side’s style of play and were vocal again at full-time.

“Absolutely, I can understand,” Moore said of the terrace rancour.

“You win, you get the plaudits, you lose then you have to face the music.

“That’s what we are going to do as a group. We will stick together and we have got to work hard.

“Sometimes when you are winning, the game doesn’t teach you anything. But when you lose it teaches you a lot.

“We started well and had moments when we needed one of those chances to go in.

“The fight we have got to show must be within us. We know it will not be given to us.

“It is a disappointing result against a good team who haven’t lost in this arena since the start of the season.

“We knew the difficulty but there was more we could have done by being more demanding with the chances that did come.”
