Limerick Harty Cup defeats but Castletroy advance and Doon out

CASTLETROY have confirmed their place in the January 13 quarter finals of the Harty Cup.

Although they lost this Wednesday to Cork’s CBC, the Limerick city side reach the last eight as group runners-up.

Doon were also beaten this Wednesday, but bow out of the Munster Post Primary senior A hurling championship.

This Thursday in Boherlahan at 1.30, Ardscoil Ris play Waterford’s De La Salle with victory ensuring a top of the table clash and a one in three chance of an all-Limerick quarter final.

This Wednesday Castletroy lost 1-16 to 0-9 to their Cork opponents in Ballyagran.

CBS were 0-7 to 0-6 up at half time against a Castletroy side who were unbeaten in their two earlier rounds.

Meanwhile, in the Gaelic Grounds Doon lost 2-20 to 2-11 to St Colmans College Fermoy.

It was 1-8 to 1-7 to the winners at half time with a Mark Coleman goal putting Doon 1-3 to 0-2 ahead on nine minutes.

With Mikie Feehan and Coleman on form, Doon were 1-5 to 0-7 clear with five minutes to half time. After the sides were level on four occasions a Kyle Cronin goal had the Cork side ahead at the break.

Five successive scores, including a second Cronin goal, had Fermoy 2-12 to 1-7 ahead within seven minutes of the restart. Dylan O’Connor had a 56th minute Doon goal but the east Limerick side were to end their campaign with a third successive defeat.
