Wycombe late show stuns Barnsley and rescues point

Two late goals rescued an unlikely point for Wycombe in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Barnsley at Adams Park.

Strikes from Reyes Cleary and Davis Keillor-Dunn seemingly put the Tykes on course for victory until Sam Bell reduced the deficit with two minutes remaining and substitute Alex Lowry struck an equaliser three minutes into stoppage time.

Barnsley had a great chance to take the lead when a terrible back pass from Connor Taylor put Keillor-Dunn through on goal but goalkeeper Will Norris was on hand to make an important stop.

However, he was powerless to prevent Cleary scoring his maiden Barnsley goal on his first league start for the club after 25 minutes.

Another mistake by Taylor, this time turning into a cluster of Barnsley players on the edge of his own box, resulted in Cleary firing low and hard beyond Norris.

Wycombe nearly equalised 20 seconds after the restart as Jamie Mullins’ first-time strike went just wide but four minutes later it was two for the Tykes.

Jonathan Bland smashed a bending effort against a post before Keillor-Dunn rifled home his sixth of the season in the league.

However, in a frantic finale, Bell pulled one back from Donnell McNeilly’s pass before Lowry’s effort from 20 yards went through a crowd of players and into the far corner.
