Will Collar goal earns MK Dons victory over Shrewsbury

Will Collar inspired MK Dons to a 2-1 victory over struggling Shrewsbury at the Croud Meadow.

The visitors broke the deadlock three minutes into the match, with Alex Gilbey flicking the ball on for Scott Hogan to head home at the back post.

Shrewsbury’s Ismeal Kabia picked up the ball and drove to the edge of the box before getting a shot away, but goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray got down to it.

Collar made it two in the 39th minute, stabbing the ball home from close range after Will Brook was unable to hold on to Aaron Nemane’s low driven shot.

George Lloyd picked the pocket of an MK Dons defender minutes into the second half and tried his luck, but his effort deflected wide.

The hosts pulled one back in the 76th minute, Kabia floating a ball into the box, which was cleared to Chuks Aneke, who managed to convert.

Will Boyle attacked an inviting Shrewsbury corner late on, but his header was saved.
