Huddersfield manager Lee Grant accepted the fans’ frustrations after his side were booed off following their goalless draw at home to struggling Burton.
The Terriers failed to offer any real threat on the visitors’ goal until around the hour mark and subsequently had three strikes cleared off the line as well as wasting two big clear-cut chances.
Grant said: “We share the fans’ frustrations. We understand that in games we could and should win that there will be frustration.
“We accept that, I accept that, and the reason for that is we share that frustration. We’re in there with them, it’s not an us vs them, that’s why they’re sharing the same feeling we are.
“I think when we watch the game back we will find there were moments in the game where we could have been more progressive but you always have to bear in mind what the opposition are doing.
“A side with a back five can often make a challenging picture for the lads and one thing I will give the players real credit for is their patience. They stuck to the plan and later on we created a lot more big moments.
“The players know they have that license from me to offer a threat but it’s finding those moments and being willing to take those risks at the right times.
“But it’s a group that’s still learning and adjusting and finding out about themselves and they’ve shown real willingness to grow into games. I’ve got no doubt they’ll work through whatever issues they’re having.”
Burton boss Gary Bowyer admitted the draw was the least his side deserved.
He said: “I felt we had the better of the first half and had some wonderful opportunities. As a team we came together.
“It’s 20th September and we’re still giving debuts and you look at the amount of money Huddersfield have spent and what we came up against and we were terrific. We were great value for a point at least.
“The game plan and how we executed it was good. Second half Huddersfield changed it and started going longer, which was a compliment to how we defended first half. We’ve not faced balls getting pumped into the box this season but, wow, we stood up to it so well.
“In this league everyone has a bigger budget than us – I don’t know how much they’ve spent on Joe Taylor and Alfie May – but we can come somewhere like this and put in a performance like that.
“You expect to come under the pump when you come here but we stood up to it really well. We can’t compete with some of the wages in this league but we’re going to have a go.”
