Mike Fondop nets late winner as Oldham end Bromley’s unbeaten start

Bromley’s unbeaten start to their League Two campaign came to an end with a 1-0 loss at Oldham.

Striker Mike Fondop was Latics’ matchwinner with an 80th-minute header to secure their first home league victory of the season and first since their return to the EFL.

It was Fondop’s first goal of the season which came moments after he had been denied when his looping header hit the crossbar.

While Fondop, a threat throughout game, was named man of the match, though that award could easily have gone to goalkeeper Matt Hudson who was making his 100th start for the club.

Hudson made two fabulous saves late in the match to deny substitutes Ben Thompson and Marcus Dinanga.

Andy Woodman’s Ravens arrived at Boundary Park unbeaten in their first seven league matches and they had also never lost to Oldham in their four previous meetings.

But this time they were second best as Latics created the clearest chances.

Oldham manager Micky Mellon’s son Michael – who was making his home debut – was twice denied in the opening period by visiting goalkeeper Grant Smith.
