Lincoln boss Michael Skubala pleased with a point against Wigan

Lincoln boss Michael Skubala was pleased with a point as they played out a 2-2 draw at home to Wigan.

Paul Mullin opened the scoring for Wigan after 10 minutes before James Collins secured a first-half brace for the Imps.

Callum Wright equalised early in the second half before Wigan saw Christian Saydee sent off and Lincoln’s Rob Street was red-carded nine minutes later.

“I thought they were a good team,” said Skubala. “Very physical and probably dominated with their physicality.

“In reality, I thought we started the game sloppy, slow, not fast enough, which is not like us.

“I thought the first 20-25 minutes it was them dominating us, and then I think in the end we were fortunate to go in at half-time winning.

“Then we start the second half slow again and make mistakes and are a bit sloppy on the ball.

“Up until 10 men, I thought they were the better team, and then when it went to 10 men, I thought we became the better team.

“Tough game, but in the end a good point because we were not quite on it today.

“We were not pressing well enough; we were not getting up to the ball quick enough and not moving quick enough.

“We have started really well, I think everyone knows that, we have not got beaten at home again which is great.

“When it went to 10 vs 10, I thought we had some big chances to go and nick it and win it.”

Wigan boss Ryan Lowe said: “I thought we had a fantastic start and scored a great goal, we knew that was something we could get.

“The penalty swings it as we were well on top. We have just looked at the penalty back, the referee is not even looking, so he hasn’t seen it.

“I don’t know who had given it, but I asked the assistant, and they said they will go in and ask him.

“There was holding, but he warned us beforehand, so we swapped the markers around.

“The ball was not even going to the lad, and he has thrown himself to the floor.

“I don’t know nowadays. Is it or isn’t it a penalty? He was still looking at the ball and he wasn’t.

“We scored a fantastic goal to get back in the game. Then the red card, and it got a bit messy towards the end.

“Both teams were trying to go for it in the end, and they were throwing everything at us.

“I thought we were by far the better team playing football and that’s what we want.”
