Huddersfield’s fine home form continues against bottom club Peterborough

Huddersfield came from a goal behind to win 3-2 and deny Peterborough their first victory of the season.

The game only sparked into life when the visitors took the lead straight after half time, with Harry Leonard’s direct free kick deflecting in off the backside of teammate Jimmy-Jay Morgan to give the Chelsea loanee a goal on his League One debut.

Fellow deadline day mover Will Alves levelled things up for Huddersfield, however, with the Leicester loanee sliding in to turn home Lasse Sorensen’s ball across goal.

Herbie Kane gave Huddersfield the lead seven minutes later, seizing on a loose ball and smashing home a powerful 25-yard drive that was helped into the net by a small deflection.

Joe Taylor hit the post after chasing down Peterborough keeper Alex Bass to get free in the box, but made up for that miss in stoppage time as he raced onto Alfie May’s through ball and finished through the goalkeeper’s legs.

That meant in the eighth minute of stoppage time, Cian Hayes’ tap-in off Matthew Garbett’s cross was entirely in vain for the visitors.
