Notts County put their pitch problems aside as a sixth goal in five games from striker Matthew Dennis sealed a 1-0 win over League Two rivals Fleetwood.
The Meadow Lane playing surface passed a Friday inspection after experts were called in to assess a rare fungal disease that had left a 10-metre swathe of dead grass along the length of the main stand touchline.
Neither side could have any complaints about the surface on Saturday as County secured a third consecutive league victory thanks to a 46th-minute winner from summer signing Dennis.
Alassana Jatta’s low centre into the area from right found an unmarked Dennis, who fired into the bottom corner from 10 yards just 19 seconds after the restart.
The goal maintained the forward’s fine scoring run since joining from Carlisle in June.
Fleetwood dominated the opening half-hour, but Ethan Ennis, Will Davies and Ryan Graydon all failed to take presentable chances.
Substitute Jordan Davies had a late free-kick well saved by Kelle Roos as Town surrendered their unbeaten league away record to drop below County in mid-table.
