Sand Gazelle ultimately finished fourth in the Betfred Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket but it would not be stretching things to suggest she was the second best filly in the race.
The winner, Falakeyah, looks a top prospect and made all in fine style but Sand Gazelle, trained by John and Thady Gosden, came from last to second at the hottest part of the race.
It was no surprise she faded in the last 50 yards and two came back by her, but for just the second run of her life it was a very promising effort and black type looks a certainty.
