Partick Thistle tighten grip on top-four Championship spot with Queen’s Park win

Partick Thistle tightened their grip on a top-four spot in the William Hill Championship with a 2-0 win at Queen’s Park on Tuesday.

Logan Chalmers put them on course for victory at Hampden Park with a fine volley in the fifth minute and substitute Alex Jakubiak made the points safe in stoppage-time.

Fourth-placed Thistle now have a seven-point advantage over Morton and Raith, although they have played a game more.

Inverness boosted their chances of survival in League One with a stunning 4-1 win over Stenhousemuir at the Caledonian Stadium.

Caley were pegged back by Euan O’Reilly after Ben Brannan’s early opener but Charlie Gilmour restored their lead.

Keith Bray and Paul Allan secured the points early in the second half and the visitors’ frustration was compounded when Blair Alston’s late penalty was saved by Musa Dibaga.

The Warriors’ defeat saw Cove Rangers move up to second on goal difference with an emphatic 4-0 win at Kelty Hearts.

Fraser Fyvie scored two of their goals with Mitch Megginson and Adam Emslie also on target.

Spartans pulled level with Elgin in League Two with a 2-0 win at Borough Briggs.

Blair Henderson and Ayrton Sonkur scored as Elgin slipped to a sixth-successive loss.
