Josh Koroma’s late strike further enhanced Huddersfield’s play-off credentials as they earned a 1-0 win at relegation-threatened Shrewsbury.
Gareth Ainsworth’s strugglers looked destined to secure a hard-fought point in their survival fight before Koroma’s 82nd-minute winner secured the visitors back-to-back wins for the first time this year.
In-form Shrews striker John Marquis fired the hosts’ best chance of the first half wide of the mark.
Shrewsbury did well to clear a Koroma effort off the line just after the half-hour mark.
The closest Ainsworth’s side came to scoring was when George Lloyd’s deflected effort hit the bar with 20 minutes to go.
Dangerman Koroma squandered a glorious opportunity when he fired wide as a one-two with Joe Hodge.
The hosts’ resistance was eventually broken with eight minutes to go as Koroma slotted his eighth goal of the season into the roof of the net from Anthony Evans’ back-post ball.
