Thompson ends Trueman show to give Bromley a win which lifts them above MK Dons

Bromley jumped above MK Dons in the Sky Bet League Two table with a 1-0 win at Stadium MK.

Michael Cheek saw a penalty saved just after half-time but Ben Thompson would put the visitors ahead a few moments later.

Victory for the visitors was their first in seven league games, while MK Dons have won just one of their last seven outings.

Bromley created the best chance of a slow first half, as Cameron Congreave saw a firm strike saved by debutant Dons goalkeeper Connal Trueman.

The visitors won a penalty just after half-time when Connor Lemonheigh-Evans tripped Congreave. However, Trueman won the battle of wits, keeping out Cheek’s penalty with his trailing leg.

Bromley would strike first a few minutes later, however, as Thompson tapped in from Danny Imray’s cross on the hour.

The visitors nearly extended their lead but Trueman made a fine double save to deny Thompson and Congreave.

MK Dons’ best chances saw Grant Smith deny Alex Gilbey and later Travis Patterson but they were unable to recover from falling behind.
