Southend continued their good run of form in the Vanarama National League with a 2-0 victory at local rivals Dagenham and Redbridge.
Kevin Maher’s mid-table Shrimpers have now only lost twice – against high-flying duo Barnet and York – in their last nine games and they added another three-point haul at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
The visitors saw Macauley Bonne have a first-half header ruled out for offside before Dagenham suffered a blow when they were forced to replace leading scorer Dion Pereira after just 22 minutes.
Worse was to follow for the Daggers as Southend took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Bonne slotted home his first goal for the club from Charley Kendall’s cut-back.
Southend wrapped up the points just before the hour when Gus Scott-Morriss turned in Oli Coker’s free-kick for his 11th league goal of the season.
