Southend and Hartlepool played out their third 0-0 draw of 2024 in the National League.
Both games between the teams this term have now ended goalless, as did last season’s meeting in the north-east back in March.
Hartlepool should have scored shortly before the half-hour mark when Emmanuel Dieseruvwe’s mis-hit effort rebounded off teammate Luke Charman and fell for Adam Campbell, who failed to turn the ball home.
Southend’s biggest chance came early in the second half when Josh Walker hit a post after a fine solo run.
Charman went close twice and Campbell headed wide for the visitors, who extended their unbeaten league run to five matches, while new Southend signing Charley Kendall had a chance blocked seconds after coming on to make his debut.
