LIMERICK Celtics U20 men are the club's second team in National Cup final action after their impressive 78-53 victory against St Brendan’s of Tralee in their semi-final.
The Celtics U20 squad now face Titans, of Galway, in the final which tips-off at 10:00am on Saturday morning. Head coach of the U20 Celtics’ men Tony Hehir stated: “I think last year will help us a bit, but if you go back 12 months we were branded the underdogs in that particular final, so I would be very cautious about labelling our team as favorites going into Saturday’s game.
“Our lads strength is that they are a very talented team, who work hard for each other. For us to bring through a group like that straight through the underage set-up and now be in another final, I am just delighted for them.”
Captain for the U20 team Cian Gleeson is well used to the pressure of cup finals after captaining the U18 Celtics team to victory a year previous.
He went onto state: “Personally I don't think we played to our strengths in the semi-final so we have been working extremely hard since on our team-work and working together as a unit.
“We are lucky to have some incredible individual players on our squad but it's about trying to tie that all together now before the final.” Titans of Galway will be a tough team to beat after they overcame favourite's Ballincollig in their semi.
