CATHOLIC INSTITUTE duo Róisín Upton and Naomi Carroll are back in action this evening for the women's Irish hockey team in a crunch Olympic qualifying game against Korea, which starts at 6:15pm Irish Time.
This is the final pool game of the qualifiers that are taking place in Valencia in Spain. The Irish squad have already had games against Belgium and Ukraine in the race for a place at the 2024 Olympics.
Team Ireland were able to keep No.4 World Ranked Belgium to a nil all draw in their first game of the pool stages before convincingly beating Ukraine 8-0 in their second game, with Róisín Upton finding the back of the goal for one of the teams goals.
Ireland currently sit second in the group standings on four points, with Belgium above them in first place, making the game against Korea tonight extremely important.
There are only 3 qualification places available from this tournament so it is essential Ireland finish second at least in the pool and preferably win their semi-final to ensure an Olympic spot.
A place could still be secured by the losing semi-finalists were they to win the 3rd place play-off.
