One one win for Limerick teams in National League action over the weekend

IN A TOUGH weekend for the Limerick national league teams only one squad got the win with both Limerick Sport Eagles and Limerick Celtics women's team suffering losses.

In the InsureMyVan.ie men's division one Limerick Celtics were the only team to register a win over the weekend with an impressive display against Mater Private Malahide at home on Sunday evening.

Both teams were difficult to separate with Celtics having a poor third quarter only scoring 10 points, letting the Dublin team right back into the game.

Justin Motley was the Limerick team's top scorer with 24 points closely followed by Michael Hood with 20. Celtics got the win in the end on a scoreline of 80-75.

Limerick Sport Eagles were on the road to Portlaoise and suffered a 92-88 loss to Panthers. Last week Eagles announced that they were releasing one of their American's Da'Kquan Davis who has now joined UCC Demons Super League team.

After this shock announcement, Eagles were put under serious pressure and relied heavily on Kealan Coats (29 points) and Jason Kileen (18 points), but their efforts were not enough to get the win.

In the MissQuote.ie national league, Limerick Celtics women's team were the only ladies team in action this weekend as they took a trip up to Cavan on Saturday.

McEvoy's Cavan Eagles have been a difficult side to beat all season and Celtics lost out to them 86-74 after putting up a serious battle throughout the game.

Celtics Samantha Coleman was their top scorer with 25 points.
