MUNSTER JUNIOR CUP
Sallypark 2
Regional Utd 4
MUNSTER Junior Cup holders Regional United were given a real scare at Tipperary outfit Sallypark before eeking out a hard-earned 4-2 win.
The home side were well up for the battle and had Regional rattled when Jack Sanders and Sean Ryan gave them a two-goal lead. A Brian O’Connell goal just on the stroke of half time, when he finished Kieran O’Connell’s cross, was to prove vital. The introduction of Pat McDonagh settled Regional and they were back on level terms on the hour mark when Kieran O’Connell struck a superb free kick to the net.
The wheel turned full circle when McDonagh put Eoin Duff through. His shot hit the post and the rebound fell to Oleg Vysochan who finished well to give Regional the lead.
Regional sealed it when from a quick break, Joey Rush and Vysochan exchanged passes before the latter scored his second to complete the scoring.

On 40 minutes, Pike failed to properly clear a corner and paid the price as the ball fell to Adam Higgins on the edge of the box and the Castleview player buried his shot into the bottom corner.
After the restart, Pike started on the front foot and took control of the game which turned into a very physical encounter. Pike got back on terms when Michael Lipper picked out Adam McInerney who cleverly flicked the ball onto Ray Massey and the Pike front man ran in behind the defence and fired to the back of the net.
Pike went in chase of the winner and would have killed off the game on ninety minutes but for a number of good saves from the home keeper.
Extra time was called for and Pike scored what proved the winner on stroke on halftime. The Hoops were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Jake Prendergast whipped the ball to the back post and Diarmuid Grimes rose highest to head home.
