CO TIPPERARY
Austin Crowe RIP: It was with great sadness that we gathered this weekend to say farewell to Austin Crowe (RIP) our founder and first President of the club. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere sympathy to his wife Mary and his family William, Seamus, Cora, Deirdre, Finula and Andrea. Austin (Austie) will always be remembered by the members of County Tipperary Golf & Country as a special person in so many ways but especially for his vision to turn a Farm & Forest into an 18-hole Championship Golf Course. Austie had a wonderful personality and was a great entertainer which endeared him to so many people. Austie, also a fountain of knowledge, in particular local knowledge, enjoyed knowing people and tracing relationships and connections.
Austie, together with his wife Mary and the Crowe family made a huge contribution to the tourist industry locally, nationally and internationally through Dundrum House.
The esteem in which Austie Crowe was held by the members of County Tipperary Golf & Country Club was exemplified by the Guard of Honour, which lined the road at Knockavilla, as his funeral cortege arrived at the church for his Requiem Mass. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.
