Madison McGuane playing in the Gaynor Cup for Limerick
FOUR Limerick players have been selected to represent Ireland on the U16 women's team as they take on Faroe Islands in two International Friendly games.
Chloe Wallace, Aibhlinn Cotter and Kate Jones from Treaty Utd and Madison McGuane from Pike Rovers have all been selected in the new squad.
Former Fairview Rangers player Chloe Wallace has had an incredible year so far after being nominated for the U15 school girls International Player-of-the-Year award and also captained the Republic of Ireland U15 Schools side to a one-all draw with Northern Ireland in March.
Defender Aibhlinn Cotter was also a member if the U15 Schools side alongside Wallace and also represented Ireland in the Bob Docherty Cup.
Ennis native Kate Jones, also got her Irish cap alongside her Treaty Utd team members.
Pike Rovers and highly rated player Madison McGuane is the final Limerick athlete to make the squad. McGuane was among the goalscorers for Pike Rovers in their 2-0 U12 SFAI National Cup final win over Dublin's five-in-a-row seeking St Kevins Boys at Pearse Stadium, Janesboro last May.
Coach Megan-Smyth Lynch continues to lead the team as she welcomes a new group of players to their first introduction of International soccer.
The U16 team won the UEFA Development Tournament in Serbia earlier this year and will want to maintain this momentum during these friendlies against Faroe Islands.
Both games will take place on Tuesday, August 22 and Thursday, August 24 in Dublin.
