Limerick Muay Thai Athlete wins Celtic Title

Thomas McMahon after winning his U16 WBC Celtic title

LIMERICK’s Thomas McMahon has won the U16 WBC Muay Thai Celtic title at the Barnsley Metrodome.

The 14-year-old has taken the Muay Thai competition by storm and is the only Irish athlete to compete for a WBC Celtic title.

From Castleconnell and training at EastSide gym with coach Calvin Ross, McMahon has successfully won two major titles in the sport over the last month.

Including winning the Celtic title he has also won gold at the World Muay Thai Youth Games in Venice, Italy, while competing for Ireland.

Thomas's dad, Thomas McMahon senior says that his son has "done him proud."

"I feel that Thomas has brought a great deal of pride to his club, country and the city of Limerick."

Thomas will hope to continue his winning streak when he faces Zac Sim’s from Scotland later on this month in Newcastle.
