Ireland finish their World Cup with a Draw

IRELAND finish their World Cup dreams with a nil all draw to Nigeria. The girls in green struggled to get any shots and finish bottom of Group B.

The team's loss to Australia and Canada cemented their faith in the tournament with today's fixture being more about playing for pride than anything else.

Ireland competed well against Nigeria in the Brisbane stadium with captain Katie McCabe leading from the front once again.

Striker Kyra Carusa was unlucky some of her strikes did not find the back of the net for Ireland.

This game is the end of the journey for the Irish team as they finish Group B with two losses and a draw.

After competing at their first ever Women’s World Cup the Irish team have done their country proud and have sparked a love for soccer in many youngsters that have been watching the games. 

Ireland: Courtney Brosnan, Louise Quinn, Niamh Fahey, Megan Connolly, Ruesha Littlejohn, Denise O’Sullivan, Katie McCabe (C), Lily Agg, Heather Payne, Sinead Farrelly, Kyra Carusa. 

Subs: Larkin for Agg The (82 minutes), Sheva for Payne (82 minutes), Caldwell for Fahey (94 minutes).

Nigeria: Chiamaka Nnadozie (C), Michelle Alozie, Ashleigh Plumptre, Osinachi Ohale, Oluwatosin Demehin, Toni Payne, Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, Rasheedat Ajibade, Asisat Oshoala, Uchenna Kanu.
