A LIMERICK rower will be gunning for glory in the Lightweight Men's Double 'A' final at the U23 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria after an impressive semi-final win on Saturday morning.
Castleconnell native Rory O'Neill, currently of UL Rowing Club, teamed up with Ciaran Purdy, of Queens University Belfast Boat Club, to produce an impressive display on the water and power their way into Sunday's Lightweight Men's Double 'A' final in Bulgaria.
The talented O'Neill, who previously represented Castleconnell Boat Club, will team up with Purdy in that 'A' final at 11.53am on Sunday.

More than 750 rowers from 51 countries are competing in the championships in Plovdiv this week.
Highly rated Limerick rower O'Neill and Purdy made their debut in the competition on Thursday, winning their heat to progress straight into the A/B Semi's. Sitting in second place behind Italy through the halfway mark, Ireland held a steady race, relying on the strong finish that has been shown from the Irish athletes time and time again.
In the third 500m, O'Neill and Purdy made their move and rowed through the Italian double of Luca Borgonovo and Nicolo' Demiliani.
There are six athletes altogether from all across the island of Ireland competing at the championships.
