UNIVERSITY of Limerick will host the Youth World Archery championships which begins this Saturday, July 1 and runs throughout the week.
The event is set to attract in excess of 800 competitors and officials from over 60 countries to the city and county.
Despite ongoing hardships in their countries, Turkey and Ukraine are expected to send very large teams
Ireland have named 13 male and female junior archers to represent the country.
The athletes will compete with other countries in U21 and U18 age-groups.
This prestigious tournament will be televised around the world to approx 150 territories.
YouTube clips from similar tournaments have reached over 10 million views.
Limerick won the bid to host the archery tournament back in 2020.
The bid was supported by Archery Ireland, University of Limerick, Limerick Council, Fáilte Ireland and Shannon Region Conference & Sports Bureau and is set to become a launch pad for attracting more World Archery events to Ireland.
