AFTER testing weather conditions during Wednesday's quarter-finals, including rumbles of thunder and heavy rain, both the Limerick District Schoolboy League and Limerick County Schoolboy League have made it through to today's semi-final stage of the Bowl competition at the Kennedy Cup.

Limerick County battled it out against North Dublin (NDSL) in their Bowl quarter-final match. NDSL went ahead early on in the game but County’s Rían Horgan responded with a goal late in the second-half to level the game.

The teams could not be separated at full-time leaving the result decided by a penalty shoot-out in which County prevailed 4-2.

In a local derby, Limerick Desmond were drawn against Limerick District in their quarter-final tie.

Both sides struggled to get a goal in the first-half, but District’s Michael Omojoefodun scored two quick goals to put his team ahead.

Desmond hit back impressively and levelled the game deep into injury-time with goals from Michael Kirby and Brooklyn Delahunty. The fixture would then be decided in a penalty shoot-out.

In the finest of margins, District emerged victorious on a 5-4 scoreline sending them through to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals of the Bowl competition take place this evening at 5pm at UL on pitch nine with another local derby in store as Limerick District play against Limerick County.

Meanwhile, Limerick Desmond will face Sligo-Leitrim at 5pm for a place match.
