Three wins from weekend action for Limerick Cricket Club

Limerick Cricket Club had some good results after another

THERE WERE wins for the Limerick Cricket Club 1st and 2nds whilst the 4ths game was abandoned before a ball was bowled. The 3rd were the only team to taste defeat.

A winless start to the Premier League campaign piled the pressure on Limerick for their away fixture against Kerry in Tralee for a return to 50-over action.

Limerick were able to keep the score relatively intact at 155-4 after 30 overs. The bowlers stuck to their task but Kerry produced an excellent final 10 overs to reach 295-7 from their innings.

With a chase of 296 needed to win, Limerick did brilliantly to do exactly that, with a team performance earning the victory with four balls to spare.

The 2nd XI stretched their unbeaten streak to eight games with a thumping win over Cork Harlequins in Division One on Saturday.

A superb bowling performance restricted ‘Quins to 120 and with Nishant Kumar reaching 56 runs, Limerick eased to a nine wicket win and a spot at the summit of the table.

The 3rd X1 were next up on Sunday looking for their third win of the season when they played Cork Harlequins as well.

Another fine showing from the bowlers, that included four wickets for Shaoib Zazai, saw Harlequins reach 145. However, Limerick’s reply was poor and they were bowled out for 122 for a 19-run defeat.

The National Cup takes precedent once again this weekend as the Treaty must make the long trek up to Belfast to face Derriaghy on Sunday for a 1pm start.

The 2nds will be aiming to make it nine from nine when they take on Limerick Blasters in Adare on Saturday. On the same day, the 4ths will play Clonmel in Division Three with the 3rds playing against County Kerry the following day down in Tralee.
