A TALENTED Limerick teenager has made her first start for Galway United in the SSE Airtricity League's Women's Premier Division.

Jodie Griffin, from Bloodmill Road, gained her first start for the Eamonn Deacy Park side against Shelbourne in their home fixture on Saturday.

The highly-rated midfielder has already represented the Republic of Ireland at U15 and U16 level. She previously played with Fairview Rangers before joining Treaty United where she won a U17 National League in 2021.

Jodie made one senior appearance for Galway WFC in 2022 before joining Galway United this year where she has made a number of appearances off the bench in the league this season.

Saturday's game resulted in a 2-0 defeat for fifth-placed Galway United against third-placed Shels.

Jodie is joined on the Galway United senior squad by two other Limerick players, Jenna Slatterty and Nicole McNamara.

The Limerick contingent at Galway United will be hoping to pick up three points as they head to Sligo this Saturday, June 10 for a crucial Women's Premier Division fixture. Kick-off is at 5pm.
