A LIMERICK-BASED player have been included in Republic of Ireland Amateur International Team Manager Gerry Davis' squad for an international friendly against the Basque Region ahead of this summer’s Regions Cup.

Conor Coughlan, of Fairview Rangers, has been named in the 20-man Rep of Ireland squad for the international friendly.

Ireland will be using the game as preparation for the Regions Cup this June which will be held in Galicia, Spain where they will face Galicia (ESP, hosts), Bavaria (GER), Zenica-Doboj (BIH).

Fairview's Conor Coughlan as well as Jack Funge, Alan McGreal and Lee Delaney have all received their first call-ups to the Ireland Amateur International team.

The fixture will take place at Estadio de Lasesarre in Barakaldo on Tuesday next, May 2 at 7.30pm CET.

Republic of Ireland Amateur International Team Manager Gerry Davis, said: “This game will be great preparation for the upcoming Regions Cup. We’ll be using Athletic Bilbao’s training centre and the Basque Region, who have been a great help in setting up the fixture, will be an ideal opposition ahead of the tournament where we face Galicia in the first game.

"We’ve had great support from the FAI to get the training camp and we’re really looking forward to the opportunity. It is a chance for the players to shine and put themselves in the shop window for the final tournament squad.

"There are some players not in this squad who will be in contention and we’ll have another camp before the final squad is announced but we’re really looking forward to the game.”
