Limerick's Seán Finn gets his clearance away during last year's All-Ireland final with Kilkenny at Croke Park. The sides renew rivalry in the Allianz League Hurling final at Páirc Ui Chaoimh on Sunday

LIMERICK head into Sunday's Allianz Hurling League Division 1 final with Kilkenny at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, 2pm, as strong favourites to win their third title under manager John Kiely.
The Galbally man has guided the Shannonsiders to league glory in both 2019 and the Covid-19 affected 2020 season and Limerick are one game away from potentially another with victory over their vaunted Kilkenny opponents.
Limerick come into Sunday's game on the back of a superb second half showing against Tipperary in the semi-final that yielded a six-point victory.
Kiely is likely to shuffle his pack again for Sunday's clash with the 'Cats' but with Munster Championship just around the corner, the Limerick manager is just happy to get high quality matches under their belt.
“Delighted to be there,” was Kiely’s feeling after the semi-final win over Tipperary. “One thing we know is that it is going to be a really tough game. From our point of view, it’s something that we can work towards for the next two weeks.
“I think both sets of supporters really enjoyed the game. It was a proper game of hurling. Both sides went at it. There was no quarter asked or given. That's what people are looking for, quality games.
“We just want to keep improving week to week. That's where our focus is at. In the next two weeks, we are going to see if we can rise the bar a little bit further for ourselves and hopefully the competitiveness within the group.
“I think a lot of lads put their hands up with that second-half performance and that's only going to be good from a competitiveness perspective in terms of team selection for the next day as well.”
Elsewhere this weekend, Limerick's senior football side will find out who they will be playing in the Munster SFC Championship semi-final after Clare play Cork at Cusack Park in their quarter-final.
Limerick have played both sides in Division 2 of the Allianz Football League this season and lost both games heavily.
The Rebels came out with a 24-point winning margin in their game in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, while Clare had 15 points to spare when they played Limerick.
If Clare win the semi-final they will come to Limerick but if Cork win, Limerick will have to travel to Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
