Plymouth hit back from a half-time deficit to beat promotion rivals Derby County 2-1 and move level with Sky Bet League One leaders Sheffield Wednesday.
The Rams opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Nathaniel Mendez-Laing beat the offside trap to race through on to David McGoldrick’s spectacular overhead kick pass near the halfway line. The striker’s first shot was deflected by the feet of Burton but he reacted well to slot home.
Argyle levelled just before the hour mark when a flowing move down the right was finished by substitute Callum Wright, whose deflected shot spun over goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith.
The turnaround was completed nine minutes later when Ryan Hardie took his goal tally to 17 for the season, converting from the spot following a foul on Finn Azaz.
The home side looked a completely different proposition in the second half following the 56th minute introductions of Wright and Jay Matete.
Hardie came close to increasing his tally and Argyle’s lead in the 90th minute with a thumping strike that flew just over.
