Scott Tiffoney scored twice as Partick Thistle claimed a third win in four cinch Championship games and climbed to third with a 3-0 victory that ended Raith’s long unbeaten run.
Brian Graham almost got to Harry Milne’s dangerous cross in from the left as the hosts steadily took control, and Thistle would move ahead in the 39th minute when Tiffoney headed home at the far post.
Jamie MacDonald tipped over Graham’s sighter shortly after half-time but the former Raith hotshot did manage to break through in the 53rd minute as he tucked away Milne’s low ball across the box. Tiffoney soon rubber-stamped the victory from a Steven Lawless assist.
Raith – beaten for the first time in 15 games in all competitions – had a late opportunity to salvage some pride, but David Mitchell both saved Lewis Vaughan’s 89th-minute penalty and blocked the rebound.
