Young Munster out-half Evan Cusack
YOUNG Munster and UL-Bohemian recorded two precious Limerick wins in the Energia All-Ireland League on Saturday.
In Division 1A, Young Munster boosted their top four play-off hopes after recording a 21-0 victory over Ballynahinch at Tom Clifford Park.
The result has seen fourth-placed Munsters' move six points clear of fifth-placed 'Hinch with now just four series of regular season games to go.
Munsters' led their hosts 14-0 at half-time after scoring two converted tries in the opening half.
The home side took the lead when Munster's Patrick Campbell ran a superb line and collected Luke Fitzgerald's well-timed pass before touching down. Evan Cusack also converted for 7-0.
The Greenfields side added a second try on the stroke of half-time from winger Shay McCarthy after a beautifully floated pass from out-half Cusack who also added the extras for 14-0.
Munsters' then sealed the win when awarded a penalty try in the second half. Next up for Gearoid Prendergast's side is an away date with Lansdowne on Saturday next.
In Division 2A, UL-Bohemian moved off the bottom of the table, four points clear of basement side Dolphin, after securing a dramatic 18-17 victory over local rivals Old Crescent at Takumi Park.
UL-Bohs got off to the ideal start racing into a 12-0 lead after 17 minutes with tries from Alan Kiely and Richie Wallace. Harry Byrne converted one of the tries.
Old Crescent hit back with a converted try, scored by Casey Tanyi, to leave five points between the sides, 7-12, before Byrne added a penalty goal for the Red, Red Robins.
Crescent moved to within five points, 10-15 at half-time with a penalty goal from Ronan McKenna.
The home side then hit the front 17-15 with a converted try from Cathal O'Reilly off a well-executed maul, with McKenna adding the extras. However, a late penalty goal from Byrne earned a dramatic late victory for the Annacotty side.
In Division 2C, fifth-placed Bruff suffered a disappointing 27-5 defeat to Ballina at Heffernan Park.
Bruff recovered from the concession of a try to draw level at 5-5, through a Shane Duggan try, before the Co Mayo side took control of the game. Ballina added three further tries to claim a bonus point win against the Kilballyowen Park men.
