Limerick hurdler Sarah Lavin will compete at the European Athletics Indoor Championships at the start of March
LIMERICK Olympian Sarah Lavin, who is set to compete at the European Athletics Indoor Championships at the start of March, set a stunning new personal best in Madrid on Wednesday night.
Following the publication of the final 'Road to Istanbul' ranking list, Athletics Ireland has announced the team to compete at the European Athletics Indoor Championships to be held in Istanbul from March 2 to March 5.
The team to compete in Turkey includes World Indoor finalist Lavin from Lisnagry in the 60m Hurdles.
Twenty eight-year-old Sarah Lavin celebrated her qualification for the European Indoors by setting a new personal best of PB of of 7.95 at the World Indoor Tour Gold meet in Madrid on Wednesday evening. The talented sprint hurdler followed up that impressive performance with a fifth place finish in the final of the 60m Hurdles in 8.02.
Lavin, of Emerald AC, who is coached by Noelle Morrissey, maintained her impressive start to 2023 when taking the women’s 60m hurdles title in 8.03 at the 123.ie National Senior Indoor Championships at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena on Saturday last.
Physiotherapist Lavin reached the semi-finals of the 100m hurdles at the World Athletics' Championships in Eugene, Oregan last July where she finished fifth in a time of 12.87.
The Limerick woman later finished in an impressive fifth place in the 100m hurdles final at the European Athletics Championships in Munich in August.
Lavin finished seventh in the World Indoor Championships 60m hurdles final in Belgrade last March.
