ABBEYFEALE jockey Paddy Harnett landed the first double of his career when riding winners for trainers Luke Comer and Donnacha O'Brien at Dundalk on Friday night.
The talented West Limerick horseman partnered Comer’s John Alexander to win the opening 12-furlong apprentice handicap.
A 9/1 shot on his handicap debut, the four-year-old led well inside the final furlong and held off Je T’ai Porte, ridden for Gavin Cromwell by Robert Whearty, by half a length.
Comer was also the wining breeder and owner. Harnett’s second winner came in the shape of the Donnacha O'Brien-trained Teutates in the eight-furlong maiden. In the trainer’s mother Anne Marie’s colours, the 14/1 chance lost a little ground to his rivals on breaking from the stalls but he improved to lead at the furlong-pole and held the John Murphy-trained Signatory by three-parts of a length at the line, winner number 27 for the successful jockey.
Castlemahon jockey Mark Enright took the two-mile handicap on the Gerry Keane-trained Mephisto. In the colours of the Restricted Movement Syndicate, the 12/1 chance led at the furlong-pole to beat the Eamonn O’Connell-trained Curious Bride by three-parts of a length.
Enright round off the session with a second success as he won the second division of the eight-furlong handicap on the Fozzy Stack-trained Chazzesmee. A strong 6/4 favourite, the five-year-old eased clear late on to win by all of five lengths from the Paul Flynn-trained 100/30 chance Khattat.
