THE Junior Soccer season resumes this weekend with a couple of key Premier games along with the kick off of the Lawson and Ger Ryan Cups.

There was drama aplenty in the final games before the Christmas break with the top two sides in the Premier League seeing their games called up prematurely, with the outcome to be decided by the Limerick District League.

Aisling led Fairview Rgs 3-1 when their game was called up early. The decision of Council was to allow the result stand.
Pike Rovers led Nenagh 3-1 in the game at Nenagh. In this case the game will be replayed.

It all means that the top two are now locked on 25 points but Pike have now two games in hand on their rivals against Regional Utd and Nenagh.

They meet Nenagh in their replayed game on Sunday hoping to carry on from where they left off. The addition of Shane Clarke to the Hoops squad gives them another dimension that they may have been short on to date. The prolific striker showed in his first outing that he will fit the bill perfectly.

Nenagh have been impressing all with their performances this season and will relish the chance to re-set when Pike come to town this weekend.

They struggled to contain the Hoops last time out and will have worked on the problems during the break. Whether that’s enough to withstand the visitors goal threat remains to be seen.

Fairview will kick off the second half of their season with a trip to Regional Utd on Saturday evening, knowing that any further slip ups could prove fatal to their title hopes.

While Pike and Fairview battle it out, Ballynanty Rvs are quietly sitting two points behind and improving week on week.
On Sunday Balla host Coonagh Utd, knowing that if the top two slip up , they could go top of the table.

The Blues have been in terrific form and will be determined to keep their title challenge on course.

In the Premier A League one game pits Fairview Rgs B against Aisling Annacotty B.

The Lawson Cup, the big prize locally for all clubs, kicks off with a number of games worth a look.
There are two all-Premier ties when Aisling Annacotty host Charleville and Mungret Reg welcome Janesboro.

Aisling, despite losing a number of key players, looked very good when beating Fairview 3-1 in their last outing. They will be hoping to build on that display against a Charleville side who are starting to show some good form with wins over Coonagh and Carew Park in their last couple of outings.

Mungret and Janesboro played out a 1-1 draw before Christmas and you can expect an equally tight affair on Sunday.
Corbally Utd and Kilmallock also shared the spoils in a league game pre break with little to choose between the sides.

Premier A leaders Newport travel to second placed Hyde Rgs A while Ballylanders will earn their passage to the next round if they can beat Caherconlish. Elsewhere Pallagreen can also make life difficult for Premier A side Moyross.

In the Open Cup Aisling Annacotty D and Croom Utd are favoured to advance against Newtown B and Brazuca B respectively.
