Jack Crowley says Munster Rugby's URC win over Ulster 'unbelievably satisfying'

Munster Rugby head coach Graham Rowntree congratulates Jack Crowley after their New Year's Day victory over Ulster in Belfast

MUNSTER Rugby out-half Jack Crowley described their dramatic New Year's Day victory over Ulster at Kingspan Stadium as 'unbelievably satisfying'.

Crowley was awarded the Player of the Match accolade as Munster Rugby struck back from trailing by nine points to score a last gasp 15-14 United Rugby Championship victory over their provincial rivals in Belfast.

Replacement out-half Ben Healy struck for a crucial late try and duly converted the score to help Munster move up to ninth place in the URC table.

Afterwards Jack Crowley, who made a crucial break in the lead-up to the game-winning try, said: "You know the saying, it's a bit cliche, but Rome wasn't built in a day. We knew that from the start of the season, new coaching staff, new players, new set-up, new system and it is just about trusting that and believing in what you are doing and you are going the right way.

"Particularly at the start of the season, we didn't get results, but we knew if we stuck with it and build layer on layer each week, we knew in moments where you got to grind it out, you got to go after it, we trusted our attack and that is a credit to the staff and also to the boys and the players to learn it and to apply it out there.

"First of all we know coming to the Kingspan the quality that Ulster are. Down in Thomond Park they have beaten us. We knew what they were going to bring and to get a win like that here it means something, and it is also credit to the quality Ulster are.

"We knew coming here what they would be like and to get a win in the end is unbelievably satisfying."

The versatile Crowley insists he does not mind whether he's deployed at out-half or in the centre for this current Munster side.

"I am happy to be able to play. Look, wherever I am needed I am happy to fill in and I think that is the same with a number of lads on the team with injuries, lads got to be moved around, particularly the forward pack, we saw that today and the effort that the forwards gave, the amount of pick-and-goes there, so an all-round team performance. Unbelievable to be part of it, be on the pitch and I don't mind where I am."
